April Update - Mommy Long Legs Art

I thought that this month I would write a little bit about another facet of my life. Part of the reason I work in this industry is to give me lots of time to put into my silly arts. I say silly art because just like in my Kink and BDSM practice I want my art to be weird and silly and sexy all at the same time. In kink or BDSM if I am doing something intense or scary, I want that experience to also illicit a pure joy that cannot be met outside of that scene. Similarly I want my art to make you laugh or double take or feel weird, squirmy or maybe turned on, maybe all of the above at once!

I don’t focus on one kind of medium I love experimenting with and going between different forms depending on my mood. I am most interested in short film work, various types of printing and stained glass, but I dabble in zine creation and audio installations as well. In this work I am not so much interested in making things the way you are supposed to and spend a lot of time breaking the rules and doing things my own way rather than how I was taught. I usually want to use my art to be messy - I love breaking the rules!

As I get back into stain glass after a very long hiatus - I find needing to work within the specific guidelines for successful stain glass, is a practice of self domination. I cannot be my usual do what ever I want self and I am surprisingly enjoying that change for once! I also know once I remember all the rules, I’ll probably find a way to break them successfully which motivates me to be good now. My love for printing is in its versatility and I can still be very successful while doing things all my own way. Printing can also be SO many things, the possibilities are so endless I find myself overwhelmed in such a delightful way. Like with kink I get to get messy and experimental in a container, in a safe space. What a privilege and a delight to get to create queer kinky art in this crumbling world.

My inspiration almost always comes from kinky life and the things that inform that. I get a lot of ideas from old leather and kink magazines, pulp fetish books, sexploitation and horror films, John waters and food. People and scenes from my everyday life, my D/s relationships and even my clients all inform the imagery that I create. If you are someone who is truely devoted to me, I have probably made art about you even if you don’t know it! I do have to shout out my forever inspo, my art will forever be informed by the gimp/gimp mask - it is the number one image I find myself coming back to over and over again. I am endlessly excited by its possibilities - the person/thing behind the mask and their devotion to the person looking down on them.

My art will continue to evolve - I have so many plans to turn my prints into glass - and I hope to share more of it with you in the future.
